Position: Sauna Host

  • Location: Woodland Sauna initially (& Fallen Willow Sauna), near Stockbridge, Hampshire

  • Job Type: Part-time Sauna Host (18 to 30 hours per week; weekend availability is required)

  • Salary: £16+ per hour (self-employed)

  • When: Starting September, training August

 

We are seeking a part-time, self-employed individual to assist with the operation of the Woodland Sauna near Stockbridge. This position will initially involve working three days: Monday, Wednesday, and one weekend day, with the possibility of additional days based on demand.

 

This unique role may not be for everyone. It involves physical labour, early starts, long hours, commitment, punctuality, outdoor work regardless of weather, weekend shifts, and interacting with a variety of people.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Opening and preparing the sauna, including lighting the stove early in the morning.

  • Chopping firewood, stacking it, and managing deliveries.

  • Managing the wood-burner to ensure the sauna reaches and maintains the correct temperature during sessions.

  • Welcoming customers for their pre-booked sauna sessions and providing health and safety briefings.

  • Monitoring customers’ needs and ensuring they follow sauna guidelines, including checking in during sessions.

  • Overseeing changeovers to ensure timely vacating of the sauna.

  • Stoking the wood-burner, refilling water buckets, and cleaning the sauna between sessions.

  • Maintaining a clean, tidy, and organised sauna area.

  • Securing and closing the sauna site at the end of the day.

 

Skills & Qualities Required:

 

Essential:

  • Local resident with own transportation.

  • Availability for weekends, flexible hours, and long days

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Punctual and reliable.

  • Strong communication skills and awareness of customer needs.

  • Attention to detail, organised, and tidy.

  • Willingness to work long hours outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Physical capability to clean sauna benches, chop wood, and carry water

  • Comfort in managing a hot wood-burning stove and sauna environment.

  • Interest in sauna culture, well-being, cold water therapy, and nature.

 

Desirable (not essential):

  • First aid certification.

  • Experience in wood chopping for kindling preparation.

  • Knowledge of the benefits of sauna and cold-water therapy.
